We woke up this Sunday morning to a beautiful sunny day which meant it was going to make for a great drive up the mountain to Big Bear Lake, to visit family. We haven’t seen Wayne’s sister Betty and our niece Teresa and family in over a year or more, so were excited about our visit.
They are mining minerals out of this mountain on Hwy 18 on the way to Big Bear. The was a cement plant farther down the road with excavation also being done on the mountain. I wonder how much more they can remove before they start having slides on the mountain.
Mineral mining and in the mountains
It took us about an hour and 20 minutes to get to Big Bear from Hesperia, we stopped at Wayne’s sister’s home for a short visit before we were all meeting Chuck & Teresa at a Mexican restaurant for lunch.
Myself, Wayne & Betty – guess we both got the wear red email.
Betty & Moose
Chuck and Teresa own “Cal-Pine Chalet - Cabins and Vacation Rentals” in Big Bear. Check out their website
Teresa & Chuck and their son Alex
They have 7 cabins on their property and rental homes through out the community. If you are coming to Big Bear Lake this is the place to stay.
Chuck will take your reservations
They are only 3/4 mile from the Village a and 5 blocks away from Snow Summit.
Big Bear has many activities for the sports minded person. In the winter, skiing and snowboarding and the rest of the year, hiking, biking, horseback riding, 4wheeling, golfing, boating, waterskiing, swimming, parasailing, fishing, kayaking and canoeing. Of course you can probably do any of these in the winter too if you are thick skinned or wear many layers of clothing.
Chuck & Alex have mountain biked all over Summit Mountain and the surrounding area and were/are members of the Team Big Bear Bike Club, winning many many metals and titles.
So as you can see there is plenty to do in Big Bear and the scenery is breathtaking if you just want to get some R&R.
We were sorry to say our See Ya Later’s at the end of the day. Sure hope we get to see them again soon.
Sunday nights sunset
That was how we spent our Sunday and today we are driving up I-5, we will probably stop someplace along the way for the night and head home tomorrow.
That was our day – hope you had a good one!
Can I hire you to be my marketing manager? Nice job :-)
ReplyDeleteLove those trees up at Big Bear! When Dave and I lived in California, we had a cabin in Running Springs, near Big Bear. The high elevation at Big Bear always made us sleepy on the way back to Running Springs. Beautiful area!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful sunset photo! Looks like a great place up at Big Bear. We've never been there, but I've always wanted to take a drive up and see it - more so now!
ReplyDeleteWe've never been there either, but it looks lovely. See you soon :)
ReplyDeleteGreat to be able to visit with family and in beautiful surroundings.
